About us:

FoodFutureCo is the first scale-up accelerator for purpose-driven food businesses, including but not limited to companies that deal in: consumer products, supply chain, food hubs, food tech, ag tech, and SaaS. With two cycles per year, FoodFutureCo accelerates 8 to 12 businesses annually with particular focus on companies that hold promise to change the future of food. 

FoodFutureCo was started in 2016 by Shen Tong, whose previous accelerator, Food-X, was recognized as one of the ten most innovative companies in food.

Business Development Manager | Job Description

Location: New York, New York

Position Summary:  

This position will be responsible for effective and well-managed accelerator programs and fund activity in support of the manager and managing partner at Food Future.  This is a rare and unique opportunity to be in the core team of a new model of business that is creating lasting impact on the food solutions, economies and systems of our future.

The Manager will have exposure and interact with thought leaders in food, sustainable agriculture, health, wellness and technology while undertaking a variety of program management, operational and community building responsibilities including, but not limited to event production, recruiting and admissions, accelerator programming, and follow-on portfolio management for companies that have gone through the accelerator.  You will help in planning and organizing programs, events, and activities as well as carry out important operational duties. Essential functions:

  • Business Development and Partnerships:

    • Identify and organize events for managing partner and companies to attend or speak at

    • Attend networking events and other events that are beneficial for FFC’s current strategic goals

    • Serve as a first point of contact for companies, mentors, advisors

    • Manage prospecting process for companies - referrals, researching and identifying potential cohort companies, outreach, and relationship cultivation

    • Manage accelerator admissions process including managing application platforms, reviewing applications, screening companies, and onboarding companies

    • Identify partnership and sponsorship opportunities and build relationships with potential partners and sponsors through ongoing outreach efforts 

    • Manage prospecting process for coinvestor network - identifying leads, holding informational calls, and continued engagement

  • Programming:

    • Work collaboratively with Manager to ensure successful delivery of all accelerator activities

    • Work with team to pair mentors and companies, based on company needs and mentors’ subject matter expertise

  • Marketing:

    • Manage marketing strategy and community building on Food Future’s social media platforms and website

    • Handle day-to-day management of social media and community intern

    • Field incoming inquiries to general FFC email inbox

    • Curate marketing material to engage FFC community and disseminate via email blasts and newsletters through CRM

  • Operations:

    • Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.)

    • Maintain company software and platforms used for accelerator

    • Help to organize and streamline company file structure

    • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures as needed

    • Other office administrative duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc/BA in Business, Finance, Food Studies, or other relevant degree

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, recruiting, business development, program management preferably in a startup environment

  • Passionate about social entrepreneurship and the good food movement

  • Experience conducting outreach or fundraising using a CRM system

  • Experience developing and disseminating marketing content

  • Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders with different cultural and professional backgrounds

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office

  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Business, VC, PE, Social Entrepreneurship

  • Data analysis skills

FoodFutureCo is offering a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to work closely with our core team, EIR and advisor community to get hands-on exposure to accelerator operations, food system design, social entrepreneurship, key industry leaders, and much more. The Fellow will be expected to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per week with a 6-month commitment towards supporting FoodFutureCo’s programming goals, including but not limited to: the organization and development of program materials, support communications and marketing efforts, community coordination and outreach.


  • Engage our community of nearly 4,000 advisors, mentors, influencers, investors, media and entrepreneurs through outreach efforts

  • Conduct outreach to investors, potential companies, and partners using CRM, email, phone, and attending in-person events

  • Develop and disseminate marketing materials to FoodFuture’s network

  • Build out a resource database to support our core program assets

  • Identify new recruitment pipelines

  • Provide operations support including entering data into spreadsheets, researching companies, scheduling, event, and meeting planning, organizing file structure, and other administrative tasks as needed

  • Support FoodFutureCo’s social media reach, impact and engagement

  • Support media and PR efforts to increase visibility for FoodFutureCo and its portfolio companies

  • Share and post FFC blog features on social channels

  • Monitor and track FFC's social profile, metrics and reach

  • Support local New York events in-person as available
